James joined Byland in 2005 as a graduate geotechnical engineer after completing an MSc in Engineering Geology at the University of Leeds. He has over 14 years experience of managing and specifying ground investigations, writing interpretative reports and producing detailed designs for a wide variety of geotechnical structures, such as piles, wall, ground anchors and soil nails.

James became a Chartered Civil Engineer with the ICE in 2013 and is also now a Director of Byland.
